| Although
we can trace our roots back to 1923 when our predecessor agency,
the Weller Agency, served a small California and Fort Bragg clientele, the
agency as we know it began its journey in 1978 in the small
coastal town of Gualala as NorCoast Insurance. A short time
later the agency acquired the Fort Bragg office of Coastal Insurance,
and in 1983 acquired the Penner Insurance Agency in Ukiah.
The
agency continued to expand and in 1988 it acquired a small
agency in Sebastopol, which marked the first effort to expand
operations beyond Mendocino County. In December of 1988, the
Sebastopol office was closed when we occupied our current
corporate headquarters in Santa Rosa.
In
order to be more reflective of the geographic region in which
we were doing business, in July of 1994 the agency name was
changed to NorthWest Insurance Agency. We continued our expansion
northward into Humboldt & Del Norte counties, opening
our office in Crescent City in 1994, followed by the acquisition
of the Earnest Gray Agency in Eureka in October of 1995. In
1997, we began operations in Napa opening an office in that
community.
The
year 2000 brought along another addition to our growing family
when Bondi-Anderson & Associates, a long-standing agency
in Sonoma County, merged with NorthWest Insurance. With this
merger, the agency realized one of its mission goals-to become
the largest independently owned insurance agency serving the
Northwest.
In
January 2005, we opened our Brookings, Oregon office making
this our first entry into Southern Oregon. Shortly thereafter
in September 2005, we acquired Dale Williams Insurance Agency
in Medford, Oregon.
